Bieber and Lady Gaga more influential than Obama…
San Diego, CA (July 1st, 2011) — Soovox, Inc., an award-winning web 2.0 start-up based in San Diego that built a social influence platform for disseminating brand messages on social networks, has released an updated web application that will allow users to measure their SocialIQ™ and compare it with their friends.
The SocialIQ™ web-based product, which stands for “Social Influence Quotient” and is available at http://SocialIQ.co, is a platform that allows users to quickly and effectively measure where they fall on the social totem pole. The SocialIQ™ application leverages existing social networks, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin, (and soon Google+), to quantify the user’s online social influence in the form of a score by the same name, as well as more detailed sub-scores that measure authenticity, authority, and network span (or reach). Measurement is free and does not require registration on the site.
In the sphere of “influence economy,” as this segment of the social web is called, it’s all about finding out what one’s online voice is worth, both figuratively and literally. The most influential users do not only have a loyal following, but also qualify for perks and rewards from brands they endorse.
Based on the SocialIQ™ proprietary algorithm, it turns out that @Ladygaga has the highest SocialIQ™ score in the world at 7337, closely followed by @justinbieber at 7178. By comparison, @barackobama, President Obama’s official Twitter handle, fetches a score of 6399, while @jesus and @god score 1048 and 498, respectively. SocialIQ.co also classifies users by influencer levels. Based on the level system, all aforementioned handles are “moguls,” the highest rank of all, except for @god, who is a “trendsetter,” and only 2 points shy of a “culture force.” Apparently, @god needs to pick up his online social media skills to catch up to the likes of Justin Bieber. In order to move up on the scale of SocialIQ™, which is a slow-moving score by design, users have to attain more followers/friends, interact more, and post interesting content on the online social networking platforms.
To be sure, there are other sites that provide social influence measurement, such as Klout. Says Akram Benmbarek, the CEO and founder of Soovox, “Just like there is room for three credit scores in the financial industry, we feel that there is room for three social influence measurements. SocialIQ™ uses a proprietary algorithm that is fundamentally different from Klout and PeerIndex, and thereby produces an additional data point for the end user.” In addition, Soovox provides the very platform where influential users can “cash in” their SocialIQ™ for brand awards and other rewards, further distinguishing Soovox from its competitors.
