San Diego, CA (August 15th, 2011) — Soovox, Inc., an award-winning web 2.0 start-up based in San Diego that has built a marketing platform enabling engagement, endorsement, and incentives for brands and influential consumers, has opened an email sign-up page for early access to soovox.com.
Soovox.com is slated to be a consumer destination site where users can share their shopping experiences, get involved in an exclusive brand community, and influence brands through the power of their social voice, all the while getting rewarded for every action they perform on the site.
In the sphere of “influence economy,” as this segment of the social web is called, it’s all about finding out what one’s online voice is worth, both figuratively and literally. The most influential users do not only have a loyal following, but also qualify for perks and rewards from brands they endorse.
Soovox is capitalizing on this trend, having already launched a social influence measurement tool called SocialIQ™, available at http://www.socialiq.co. And when the new soovox.com site launches, users will have to measure their influence using the SocialIQ™ algorithm before they can join the exclusive community. Once accepted, they will have access to exclusive brand rewards and perks designed only for the influentially “worthy.” For now, however, users can add their email to be notified of access to the beta when it launches. For those that sign up at least 3 of their friends, early and full access to the site is guaranteed.

There is a great article by Joy Linskey about the differences in the 3 major influence scoring sites out there, as well as the future of Soovox.com. Check it out at http://x.gryphonnest.com/jrlsolutions/2011/08/04/trust-measure-social-media-influence/.
A government is run a lot like a business. There is just one difference. A business strives to give its clients what they want. A government strives to give itself what it wants. Hence, the nice post from Soovox below, and the ensuing economic disaster that is on everyone’s minds, but is hopefully
being averted as we speak. It’s only a matter of time before the debt ceiling is cracked, or else…I won’t even say it.
Democratic President Obama, who carries a “Mogul” social IQ status of 4405, along with the republicans and Speaker of the House Boehner, who in comparison holds a “Culture Force” social IQ of only 502, are finally putting their heads together and coming up with a compromise that might just work for everyone. Though, based on their Social IQ, the “Culture Force” doesn’t come close to the “Mogul.”
Social media has made it a lot easier for politicians to gather information from their followers simply by checking their status updates and blog posts. Whereas before it may not have been easy for political leaders to know what their country wanted, today, it’s as simple as looking at their leaders’ social IQ’s, to see who is favored.
So, come on Republicans, raise that debt ceiling, don’t embarrass America anymore and lets forget about this whole default thing and move on to bigger and better things like the economy, the job market, and Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign.
Since President Obama held a Twitter Town Hall meeting, maybe he will really put our government into the 21st century by allowing the people to tweet or direct message their votes in 2012 and make voting polls a thing of the past. Do you think Twitter Polls could be in our future?
Some of you may have noticed (inadvertently) that soovox.com is now sporting a stylish new landing page. For those of you reading this who are existing users of the site, the obvious question you may have is, WHY? Why would you close access to the site? Why would you cut back on features and functionality already in place in exchange for a simple, perhaps too simple, page, amounting to a single text box? The answer is quite simple as well: user experience. For some out there, this may be just a buzzword, the latest trend in techno-lingo. But actually, at Soovox, we are taking the term seriously. I think very few of you would disagree with the perception that the Soovox site in its current form was lacking in many ways. This became apparent after conversations and surveys with our loyal and most influential users.
So we listened and responded. The Soovox team is preparing a major product release in the near future that will not simply enhance the user experience, but rather radically change it. We believe for the better. We will be sharing more details with you in the next few weeks as we get closer to launch, but suffice it to say, we are aiming to make our users feel like VIP’s, both literally and figuratively.
Hence the red carpet. We are making the Soovox site an exclusive community for the socially savvy user, with a user experience and rewards designed to be just as exclusive. And to kick things off, we will be awarding unrestricted access to the new site for each person that signs up at least 3 friends (that are not current soovox users) through the current registration system. And for our loyal users – don’t worry, your current Soobux balance will be carried forward to the new site.
So go ahead, help us help you. Go to soovox.com, and enter your email address to get on the list. On the ensuing confirmation page, do what you do best – talk to your social networks and tell them how great Soovox will be! The best is yet to come!

Comic-Con used to be all about the comics and the geeks who loved them, but not anymore. The incredible power of social media has made Comic-Con one of the most talked about subjects on social networks. This year, vendors took full advantage, using social networks like Twitter and Facebook to send out messages, announcements, industry secrets, as well as chances for winning prizes. According to NBC San Diego, social media has transformed Comic- Con into a more exciting and interactive event, thus attracting record high crowds. This year, 120,000 people visited the San Diego Convention Center during the five days of Comic-Con. In fact, Comic-Con has become such a phenomenon that some fear it may be outgrowing that space, forcing Mayor Jerry Sanders to consider a 961,187 square foot expansion to the already massive structure that is the San Diego Convention Center. Steve Cushman, a Convention Center board member feels San Diego is already losing business because the center is too small, and that if the city does not expand the convention center, Comic-Con may not be the only business event that San Diego loses out on in the near future. With the proposed addition, the San Diego Convention Center would be a whopping 2.75 million square feet. That’s like 55 American football fields.
Well, I only know one family that can throw a ball that far – The Cullens. It just so happens that a few members of our favorite Twilight family, or rather their human counterparts, were at Comic-Con this year, along with their small screen counterparts from the Vampire Diaries. Other celebrities included Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, the stars of the upcoming movie Cowboys and Aliens, Lea Michele from Glee, Jeffrey Donovan, the star of Burn Notice, and Dule Hill, supporting actor in Psych, and many more.
So, I took the time to check the Social IQ of a few stars: Lea Michele, Jeffrey Donovan, Dule Hill, Ian Somerhalder, Ashley Green, and Jon Favreau who directed Cowboys and Aliens. Can anyone guess which star had the highest Social IQ? If you picked Ashley Greene, you’re right. Tweeting @AshleyMGreene, she is a “Mogul” with a Social IQ of 1289. Not surprising since she has well over 1 million followers, and looks amazing as sparkling vampire, Alice Cullen. Next in line was director Jon Favreau who earned a Social IQ of 1216, with 50,000 less followers than Ashley. Ian Somerhalder and Lea Michele also both received “Mogul” Social IQ scores of 1161 and 1152, respectively. Obviously, when Ian tweeted he was with Stefan and Klaus on a plane headed for San Diego to Comic-Con, I’m sure I wasn’t the only Twitter follower of his who wished I had thought to get tickets ahead of time. That is what I call social influence at it’s best, vampire speed without the fangs. Lastly, we are left with the detectives. Those hard-working and very human souls who put their blood, sweat and lives on the line to save us helpless people. And how do we repay them for their genius and kindness? Averaging around 50,000 followers, both Jeffrey Donovan and Dule Hill are “Socialites,” with Social IQ scores of 303 and 315, respectively.
So much for killer instinct.
Then again, whom would you rather be saved by? A sweaty and bleeding detective or a gorgeously perfect vampire?

We are all used to the idea of dog parks and cat playhouses, but social media has taken animal interaction to a whole new level. With nearly 1.5 million Twitter followers and a “Mogul” social IQ score of 1414, @sockington can take over the world as a celebrity cat. Social media has definitely gone to the dogs, cats, squirrels and other creatures. Another cat @nyannyancat is a “Trendsetter” with a social IQ of 417, and proudly has 18,000 more Twitter followers than @MSNBC. A common squirrel who goes by @common_squirrel doesn’t seem to be suffering socially at all because of his less than creative Twitter handle. He ranks as a “Socialite” with a social IQ of 258.
Okay, I understand how a cute little cat or dog or even a squirrel could make us weak in the knees and Tweets. But a cobra? When the Bronx Zoo Cobra got loose in New York City, he tweeted as @BronxZooCobra and gained over 236,000 followers. It must have been his uncanny sense of humor.
Maybe these animals should consider an account with Soovox. They can use their influential social status to promote products they use and love, and their “parents” can reap the rewards of having such socially influential and wonderful pets. After all, animals have always been very near and dear to our hearts. Their influence on us, socially and personally, has never been in question. I mean, what good is a cat food commercial without a cat? And adding a golden retriever puppy to that toilet paper commercial was just priceless for any dog lover to watch. Animals have always had a strong presence in our lives, and now with the help of social networks, their influence can be felt all around the world.
So, does your pet have a higher social IQ than you? Go to soicaliq.co and find out now.
Google+ seems to be in an great hurry to remove the gender question from their application process. Well, it’s too late. The secret is out, documented and published. Lets just say that if men are from Mars and women are from Venus, then Google+ is significantly more Martian than it is Venusian. Out of the more than 10 million new users that recently signed up for Google+, about 80% are reported to be male.
Google claims this is not a big deal, since it’s customary for guys to be more adventurous in trying out new technologies. But, I think it has to do with the wording: circles, hangouts and sparks. If the first two don’t scream testosterone, then the third one is a sure fire hit, with a whole lot of spark. Get it?
Either way, Google has to figure out a way to make their new baby feel more feminine and apparently they’re adhering to the old adage “out of sight, out of mind.” The pressure is on because their greatest competitor, ah that little website called Facebook, is equally used by men and women, and many of its die hard users who just can’t seem to live without it are actually women. On the other hand, Facebook, despite being way ahead of the game, is not giving Google+ any leeway. They have even gone so far as to remove one of their own user’s ads from their website, which was interpreted by the company as advertising for Google+.
Social networks are like islands, each onto its own, and all in danger of being taken over by a wave of competition or financial disparity. But, if we think about it, how many social networks do we really need and how long before these islands intersect and start forming one big mass? In comparing the functionalities of Facebook, Twitter and now Google+, it’s not hard to find the similarities, though it is their differences that attract us to each one.
Perhaps now that the Internet has mastered the idea of social networking, we should focus on using these social networks to expand on the ideas behind social marketing and influencing the economy with our powerful socially influential statuses on these global networks. Therefore, in addition to the social networks currently on Soovox, Google+ will soon be an available method for evaluating social IQ as well.
